Nationwide Nominations Now Open for 2022 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 1, 2021) - More than one million military spouses maintain the homefront while our service members defend this great nation. Military spouses are the backbone of the military and contribute directly to our nation's defense. And so, for the thirteenth year, nominations for the 2022 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® (AFI MSOY) award are now open.

"The Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® program is more than an award. It's the largest and long-standing, mission-driven community of military spouse leaders. And if there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that we truly are stronger together," says Lori Simmons, Chief Growth and Marketing Officer at Armed Forces Insurance.

The award recipients are inducted into a year-round program for military spouses to earn leadership credentials, expand their networks, learn valuable life and advocacy skills, and make a difference in their communities.

All nominees will go through four rigorous rounds of advancement, culminating in announcing the overall 2022 AFI MSOY recipient in our nation's capital in early May 2022. Nominees are judged on five core criteria: overall impact and involvement in the military community, exhibition of leadership skills, community building capability, communication skills, and overall personal story.

Voting to select winners will be held in multiple phases:

  • November 29 – January 21: National Nominations Open
  • January 28: Meet the Candidates
  • February 7-11: Base Voting Open
  • February 17: Base Winners Announced
  • February 25: Top 21 Announced
  • March 1-2: Branch Vote
  • March 7: Branch Winners Announced
  • March 10-11: National Vote
  • May 5:  Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® Winner Announced at Awards Event
